A Hint of Desperation...

I've been skipping naptime.  I'll be honest.  It kind of sucks, but otherwise, no writing is done.  Little C. has stopped teething, but caught the flu then a cold.  I can see winter around the corner, folks!

But all is not lost.  Thanks to my nap skipping I have 3,000 more words written in the Angel story, which I been sadly neglecting.  I also have a rough draft of a new bio written.

I chaptered out the Angel book in Scrivener, which I have to say, I'm kind of disappointed with.  Scrivener is more of a writing program than an organizational program.  I don't really need a writing program.  I have my chapter outlines that I put in my Wonder Woman notebook, but I don't think I would ever take the time and effort to type those into a program.  I also prefer to write in Open Office.  I don't know why, but I just like writing everything out in one place.

So I think I'm going to go back to Notebook (I think that's what it's called.)  MUCH better for organizing your thoughts and world.  The labeling is amazing!

Beta Reading Claudia Lefeve's new book, Paradox.  So interesting to see where the twists and turns are leading us.  Etta is a grownup in this book, so that is also way cool!

Yes, I know, it's not an out of the ballpark blog entry today, but it's there!

Goals for the last ROW80 of the year?  Write something everyday.  Try to keep to my schedule of Tues/Thurs Angel, every other day of the week.  One blog entry a week, to keep accountable on my writing.

Happy Reading!

I'm sure I've told you before but I love your star theme. It's just so different than what most people have. Oh, I'm kind of surprised you don't like Scrivener. I tend to have multiple folders and cork boards outside of my manuscript folder. I also like writing in the composition mode with a different background for each project I'm working on. But Scrivener isn't for everyone :) If you've found a way that works for you, keep doing it that way.

Sorry that nap time is out but congrats on the 3k. Any words you can get down that you didn't have before is progress. :) Hope you have a great week.

Take advantage of writing during the little one's naptime while you can :). When my son was a baby, until he was four, I got sooo much work done. Then when he stopped, it really took me a couple years before i could figure out a new rhythm to the day so I could get some writing done.

I use Scrivener, and honestly, if I didn't use it, my novels would be utter disasters! I love that I can keep all my notes and outlines and research material all in one place, and I can work by scene, and rearrange things, etc. But it all depends on how you work. Since I write historical, i have a ton of stuff for each book to keep organized and so I just really need a tool to help with that. Scrivener just happens to fit the bill for me, but not everyone likes it.

Good luck!

Nice, Kate.

I used to look forward to napping. For some reason, at my age of 56, I forgo napping. I guess having PD, or whatever my neurological condition is, I find I'd rather skip the napping and write or catch up with my writerly friends.

I hope you're achieving your goals. I'm rather wondering if I'm the only blogger, who is kind of just using my blog as a sole outlet. I'm actually thinking I've got enough "Homeless Chronicles" material to self-publish. I see you're having all sorts of fun with different writing programs. Good luck, Kate. I'll be here cheering you on, and more than likely, trying my hand at it. You are all a help! Mary
